This is not a thrill ride!

Does this seem a strange thing to say about Indoor Skydiving? After all, is ‘thrilling’ not one of the most common adjectives we hear from customers after they have experienced the dream of flight for the first time?

Well, yes, of course we want our customers to be thrilled. We love it when they emerge from the wind tunnel, adrenaline pumping, wearing the widest grins ever! But here’s the thing. A roller coaster ride is the same roller coaster ride every time you do it. This is not indoor skydiving. No sir. On the contrary, we want our customers to experience something different on each visit. We want them to learn, to get better, to start busting out fancy moves…. and ultimately to share our passion for what we consider to be one of the most exciting, fastest growing global sports there is.

A sport you say? Hell yeah! The Oxford Dictionaries define as sport thus:

An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Wikipedia would have it similar:

Sport (UK) or sports (US) are all forms of usually competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants, and in some cases, entertainment for spectators.

That ladies and gentlemen, is indoor skydiving. If we’re honest about it, the competitive opportunity currently only kicks in once you have reached a certain proficiency. You can get a flavour of it here, courtesy of the International Bodyflight Association (IBA). Our challenge at iFLY is to get creative and find new ways of making the sport competitive, for those who want it,  from an earlier level. Don’t worry, we’re on it.

In the meantime, don’t just take the ride. Make the thrill last longer through learning.
