Meet the Team: Brooke Rawson Q&A

By: Bethany Hughes: Marketing Executive, iFLY UK

Brooke has recently passed our instructor course and become the newest member of our team at iFLY Manchester. We had a chat with Brooke about joining iFLY, and how she’s settling into her new role.

Congratulations on passing the instructor course Brooke. Are you enjoying being an instructor?

A: Yes, I am loving it! I’ve wanted to be an instructor for a few years now, so it feels great to be in the position I am in now, and I’m looking forward to progressing further as an instructor. I only started instructing a couple of weeks ago and I already find teaching customers to fly extremely rewarding and so much fun! Everyone has been so welcoming, and I already feel like I’m part of the iFLY team.

What did you do before joining iFLY? What’s your background?

A: I joined the Royal Navy straight from school as a radar operator. After 4 years, I decided it was time to leave, and that’s when I applied for the instructor role. I was over the moon to hear back from the management team when they received my application, and I’m really excited to see where this career change takes me.

Why did you want to become an instructor?

A: I love flying, plus being an Indoor Skydiving instructor has been my dream job since I started skydiving 4 years ago. I love that iFLY cater for people of all ages and abilities and that their aim is to deliver the dream of flight to everyone.

What advice would you give to anyone taking our instructor course?

A: You learn a lot during the instructor course, but the main thing is keeping customers safe in the wind tunnel. The course can be physically demanding, so my advice would be to make sure you meet the fitness requirements before-hand. You should also have a can-do attitude and be willing to learn.

What are your hobbies?

A: There are a few things I enjoy doing in my spare time. I have competed in Muay Thai, I enjoy Snowboarding and Skiiing but my main hobby is Skydiving. I have several medals from various competitions including a gold medal at National level for Canopy Formation.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

A:  I have thumbs that look like big toes.
